Xiaomi has sped up its Android 16 rolling out process making the update available to a wider range of devices, which includes smartphones and tablets from the Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco series. Such a strategy is commendable because the company has started the rollout prior to the launch of its latest custom operating system, HyperOS 3.
Some competitors release the new Android version together with their proprietary OS updates; in contrast, Xiaomi has made the eligible devices to be those receiving Android 16 first. The entire lot of devices that qualify for Android 16 will be compatible with the forthcoming HyperOS 3 upgrade.
In the case of Android 16, user experience is not significantly altered but it adds a few enhancements and optimizations. The new features are available to users who find their devices eligible and thus can check for them.
Devices of Xiaomi that qualify include the flagship Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi 14 series, and some high-end to mid-range phones. The 15, 15 Pro, 15 Ultra, 14 Pro, 14 Ultra, Civi 5 Pro, Mix Fold 4, and Mix Flip 2 are also highlighted. The company has added a variety of tablet models, like the Xiaomi Pad 7 series, Pad 6 Pro, Pad 6 Max 14, and Pad Mini.
Redmi users will receive updates for phones like the K80, K80 Pro, K70 series, K60 series, Note 15 series, Note 14 series, Note 13 Pro models, and some Redmi Pad tablets. Both 4G and 5G variants will be supported.
The Poco devices that are due for the update are C85 4G, C75 series, F7 and F6 series, M7 and M6 series, X7 and X6 series, and Poco Pad models. The updates apply to both the standard and Pro versions, as well as the 4G and 5G alternatives.
Presently, Android 16 is being distributed to the Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15s Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Redmi K80 Pro, and Redmi K80 Ultra. According to Xiaomi, the implementation of updates for other devices in different regions will be staggered, and users should be prepared for gradual updates in the next few weeks.
Those who are unsure of their device's eligibility can either reach out to Xiaomi's official support channels for clarification or manually check their phones for system updates.
